Family, Rockstars, and Stitches

I don't know where April, May, and now June have gone!!!  Here are a few of the highlights of June :)
 Precious Charlie and Lela
 Emma LOVES her Mia!!!
 Charlie and his Daddy, Davin
Emma went to a Party like a Rockstar birthday party.  Kiddos were encouraged to dress up as a rockstar.  I got Em all dolled up in a black t-shirt with a pink princess skull, pink tutu with pink leggins and put some streamers in her hair.  When we got there, there was a box of dress up clothes---Emma much preferred Rapunzel and a mermaid over being a rockstar :)  She still had fun on the stage!!!
 Getting her rockstar make up...
 she liked it!

OUCH!!!
We had scheduled family pictures (my parents, sister and her family, my grandma, and us) on Father's Day.  We got to my parents' house at 4:30...my photographer friend got there around 4:40...by 4:45 we were headed to the ER bc Emma had cut her foot on the backdoor.  My parents' door had a little metal piece that hung down from the door---it was built in from their alarm system--and Em's foot was in the wrong place at the wrong time the metal piece sliced her foot.  Trav knew right away that stitches were needed.  He and I headed to the ER in Georgetown.  I told him I would drive...hmmmmm, this proved to be a bad choice.  About 3 minutes from the hospital, I started seeing spots and my ears started ringing.  I told Trav that I was going to pass out and that I needed to pull over.  Mind you, I had yet to see her foot OR any blood.  My mind was racing and I was only imagining what was hiding underneath the towel that Trav pressed to Emma's foot.  Trav tried to encourage me to keep going, but I knew that it was unsafe for me to keep driving.  I pulled over, eyes closed, sweat drenching my clothing and scalp.  Trav hopped out of the the passenger side, Em in his arms and told me to scoot over.  He drove the rest of the way to the ER with Em in his lap :(  When we got to the ER, I stayed in the car to collect myself and told Trav I would meet him in there.  When I had cooled down a bit and felt like I was no longer on the verge of passing out, I headed in to the ER.  I found Trav and Em in an exam room.  The doctor had already tied a gauze on her foot and I assumed that she was already done...nope.  The doctor then started talking about how everything seemed "intact" and that he was labeling her a category 3 injury and that should bump her up a bit.  I did not like the word "intact"---was that questionable when we walked in???  and I had no idea where the class 3 fell on the urgency scale.  Needless to say, the room got a little bit hot again, the sweat and lights started and the doctor turned his attention to me instead of to sweet Emma.  I got the good ole wet rag and instructions to put my head between my knees.  I decided then and there that I would NOT be going to be ok when Emma got stitches and that I should let Trav continue to do a great job taking care of Em.  My sister came to keep my company and my mom went to keep Trav and Em company---my mom does much better than me in medical situations.  Trav and Em waited from 4:50ish to 10 pm in the ER before she got stitched...goodness!!!  It was a LONG night!!!
Em ended up getting some internal stitches and then 8 external stitches.  The stitches were different than I had ever seen.  They went under the skin and looked more like the hem of a piece of clothing.  She will definitely have a deep scar by her toes for a while...a little reminder of a VERY interesting Father's Day!!!  Trav definitely stepped up to the plate and showed off his amazing Daddy skills that day!!!
