Whistle while you Work

I am a workin' woman again. My first day back was Wednesday, February 11th, but this past week was my first full week at Northwest. I think it took me a couple of days to organize my thoughts and make a couple of "to do" lists before I was able to get into the swing of things again. The days FLY by and at the end of the day I find myself begging for just one more hour to get things done. My goal is to try and clock out at 4pm each day and get Emma by 4:30pm. I am trying to find a balance between working woman and mommy...hopefully I will find it soon :) Trav has been AMAZING at helping me make the transition. He has been loading/unloading the dishwasher, emptying the dryer, picking up around the house, helping get Em's things ready for the next day---the list goes on and on. The best part is that he is doing these things without me asking. I guess he knows that when I am happy and relaxed everyone is happy :) He is a great husband!!!

So...this is where my mommy works :)
Emma came up to school for a teacher's baby shower on my first day back. She was happy to make the rounds and introduce herself to the NES family. Emma will have to get used to this place because she will be coming here for the Pegasus program when she is 3.

Playin' Footsies
Landry is only 2 months older than Emma.
Hmmm...who drank what water...where?
These were all the babies born at our school in 2008--there was a bit of a baby boom. We wanted to introduce them all at Katharine's baby shower. Leah is 9 mo, Payton is 11 mo, Landry is 5 mo and Emma 3 mo. Katharine just had her baby boy on Friday, Feb. 20th. Notice that Emma is not interested in the camera...I think she is eyeing Payton's super cute silver mary janes :)

Valentine's Day Sleepovers

Emma spent her first night away from us. She was a special Valentine delivered to my parents' house on the morning of the 14th. Trav and I had made plans to spend VDay/night in San Antonio. We made reservations at The Westin and planned to spend time on The Riverwalk and just relax. My parents said that Emma did great for them--although I am pretty sure that she could throw a marvelous fit and they would still say she was perfect :)
Trav and I had a WONDERFUL time. I love spending time with my daughter, but it was also fantastic to spend time with T without having to think about being a mom. I got to sip on several glasses of wine, go to bed early, wake up late, drink coffee while curled up in a fluffy chair and read. It really was a relaxing trip for both of us. We have decided that we should do this more often!!!

Say Cheese!!!

My friend, Karin, came over to take another round of photos of Emma. She asked us if we would mind if she used Emma as a guinea pig for a "Watch Me Grow" album that she wants to make and use as a sample to show her clients. She is going to take pictures of Emma every 3 months for a year. She keeps thanking us for letting her use Em, but really it is a win-win situation. I cannot wait to see the finished product. It is amazing how much Em has already changed from her newborn pics, 2 1/2 months ago. Our next shoot will be May 9th---6 months old :)
You can see the pics at http://www.karinmccannon.com/. Click on clients at the bottom--the cutie patootie that you will see is our Em :) There are 3 different galleries: Emma3months_1, Emma3months_2, Emma3months_3
I have many favorites!
Em, Bodhi, and I had a mini photo shoot of our own after Karin left. Bodhi had just come back from the groomer and was ultra soft and fluffy and I thought it would be a good time for he and Emma to bond.

I did not pose her like this--she is a natural :)

3 Months Old

Emma is 3 months old today.
To celebrate this-- I thought I would share a "Things to Know about Emma" list.

She...
-weighs about 15 lbs.

-is right at 24 inches long.

-is able to stand with assistance.

-can hold her head up--she can also head butt with great precision.
-likes to sleep--A LOT! She goes to bed at 10ish and wakes up around 9:30am.

-is drinking 6 to 7 oz. of milk at each feeding.

-loves bright colors---she has found that bold patterns (stripes, polka dots, etc.) make her life much more exciting.

-is comforted by cuddling with her lovey when it is time to go to sleep.

-has red markings on her thumb and index finger from sucking her thumb.
-likes to scream when she is hungry or sleepy. She does not usually cry other times of the day--which means there is quite a build up for these special times!!!

-loves being held--especially while you are standing.

-LOVES watching TV---she will turn her head like an owl to catch a glimpse of the glowing screen. We are trying not to encourage this :)
-smiles a lot.

-loves, loves, loves me brushing her hair while she watches herself in the mirror.

-has started recognizing us when we walk into a room and greets us with a huge smile and a coo.

-is precious and is very loved!!!

The Sitter

Emma went to her sitter for the first time today. I decided that I may want to try a week of 1/2 days before we started going full time next week. Emma did not quite know what to think when she woke up in a new house, with a couple of strange faces looking down at her. I am sure that Em had a great time and was very entertained by all of the new and exciting things going on around her. I am proud to say that there were no tears when I left--by either one of us :)

The kids were sooooooo exited that Emma was going to get to stay and play with them today. They are REALLY cute!!!
