Let it SNOW!!!!!

Tuesday we got to see snow...lovely, fluffy snow. I can't remember the last time that we saw this much snow in Round Rock, Tx. The kiddos at school had the BEST recess ever as they had snow ball fights and built snowmen. I could not wait to go get Em so that I could see how she would react to playing in the snow. As soon as T got home, we all got wrapped up and headed outside. The backyard had WAY more snow than the front yard, b/c the tree in the front did not lose its leaves.
Em Loved the snow.

JOY!!!

Our neighbors made 3 cute snowmen. Em was very curious about them.
GLASSES!!!
From the front, it looks like we got hardly any snow at all. I had a vision that I would find a winter wonderland when I pulled up to our house. I was greatly disappointed, but felt better when I looked out back.
MORE GLASSES!!!!!
View from our back gate...this vantage point make it look more wintery.
Bodhi and Emma playing in the snow.
Getting out of the layers of clothes. Travis said she reminded him of the little boy from the Christmas Story---a little squishy.
Out of the blue this morning, I remembered that my mom used to put plastic bags on our feet (0ver our socks) so our feet would not get wet when we played in the snow. So, I decided that I would wrap Em's legs in a small trash bag (cut up the middle) and put sandwich bags over her socks. She stayed nice and dry. Thanks mom for teaching me a long time ago how to take care of my pumpkin on her first snow day!!!

Just Because...

Emma found her Daddy's hat and decided it was the perfect accessory for her Valentine's Day outfit :) She makes me smile! Behind the scenes info...Em is sitting on my stomach bouncing up and down as I am trying to take her picture. Silly girl!!!

Stuck

What started out as a very casual, relaxing, normal day turned into a bit of an adventure. Emma and I went to her doctor for her 15 month appt this afternoon and stepped into the elevator at the doctor's office only to find ourselves stuck on the second floor. I was not quite sure what to do when the elevator stopped and the doors did not open. I thought the alarm was not necessary (yet) so I decided to push the HELP button. I guess it is kinda like onstar and there are operators waiting for people to get stuck :) A very nice man on the other end of the line gave me directions on how to unstick ourselves, but no luck...still stuck. He said that he would send somebody to get us out. At this point my imagination started getting carried away and I started seeing all of the movie/tv clips of people in this exact situation and I got a bit worried. Thank goodness for my phone, I was able to text my mom and Trav and they kept me company. I had also called the doctor's office to tell them that we were there, but we may be a little late. The people in the office were sooooooo sweet and stood outside the elevator until we got out. The kept talking to me and keeping me posted. So...30 minutes later, I saw a hand reach in and manually open the door. Whew...I was soooooo very excited to see our rescuer!!! Ok...so the picture above was a bit more dramatic than our rescue, but I needed some kind of visual :) Emma got to leave the elevator and headed into Dr. Millar's office to get two shots...what a day!

Snip, Snip...Bye, Bye Mullet!

As you can see, Em's hair was a little mullet like. I kept waiting until it got long enough so I could keep her first clipping. Thank goodness that she has some curl b/c it was often curled under or behind her ears and you did not notice that she was party in the back, all business in the front :)
The haircut started off good. The place had TVs in front of all the kiddie seats. Emma seemed like she would be distracted and it would be an easy chop.

She DID NOT like the water bottle and her newly wet hair! This is when I knew that Em's first haircut was going to be a challenging on.
Mommy, HELP ME!!!! I felt bad taking pictures, but the hair stylist looked like she had it under control.
Are we done yet?

Now what are you doing to me?!?!?

We stopped at the park on the way home because it was GORGEOUS outside, and also to put a smile back on Em's face. She loves being outside. She had a blast picking up rocks and putting them on the slide. She could have stayed there for hours!
No more mullet...almost a mini bob. In a few more months, we will have to see if we can get an actual style going.
:)

This is MUCH better than sitting on an airplane while a woman pulls your hair and cuts it off!

Colorful Hearts and Many Laughs

Ok, so I was trying to think about an age appropriate Valentine's Day gift for Em's buddies at her sitter's house. One of my teacher friends suggested that I make heart shaped crayons. Why didn't I think of that? So...I tried my skills at crayon making. I found these great disposable heart shaped muffin tins at Target. Gotta LOVE Target!!!
Trav and I spent a little bit of time peeling crayons. A friend told me to exacto knife down the wrapper first instead of trying to rip the paper off. THANK YOU, Ashley for that wonderful advice. I can only imagine how long it would have taken without that step! I broke each crayon into 4 or 5 pieces and loaded the tins.

Put the tray in the oven at 275 until things started to get gooey. It did not take much time at all!

I let it cool and then peeled off the tins. I was pleased with how they turned out!

On a funnier note...Em has yet another dress up moment. Tonight she put the hood of her jacket on her head and kept it there. She walked around the house like it was completely normal. However, I thought it was HILARIOUS to watch.
Oh, Bodhi...Trav and I forget that he is sooooo big until we
see pictures like this and you can see the size comparison. You don't mind if I check your ears...do you? Bo did a great job staying still and calm when Em pulled on his ears and ran her fingers through his coat. We love you Bo!!!

The coat stayed on while she played at her table. Silly girl! I look forward to our next silly moment. I am POSITIVE it will not be long before this cutie makes me laugh again!

Cutie Pie!

Emma reminded me of Steve Martin in the movie The Jerk as he is walking away with all of his belongings that he NEEDED. She too was picking up random items and was acting like if they were the MOST important things she owned. All I need is my bag, my glasses, and my book :)

and my legos :)

She kept her sunglasses on for about an hour or so. They made it through many stories and lunch. She was cracking T and I up. She would pull them down and look over the top and then put them back on.

Her personality is coming out---she is funny, strong willed, a bit of a perfectionist, and very determined! Em playing dress up with kitty ears...notice the bunny ears around her neck.
Using the oven as a mirror to check out her new look.

Em frequently goes into the study, closes the door, and then pulls the curtins on the french doors back to peek at us. I love the pancake face :)
Her first bowl of actual cereal and milk.

I had her clothes hamper in the laundry room filled with clothes I needed to fold. Em's dirty clothes were in a little pile where her hamper should have been. She just started picking up the clothes and transferring them to the top of her nightstand. She picked up all of her clothes and piled them up---I guess the mess bothered her a bit. I appreciate my little helper!
